Chas Guldemond & Kyle Mack Podium at Mammoth Grand Prix

January 16th, Mammoth Mountain Grand Prix, Olympic Qualifiers #3 and #4

It was a big day for Rockstar Energy and the U.S. Snowboarding Team. Chas Guldemond took 3rd place in the first Olympic qualifying final at Mammoth, and Kyle Mack followed his lead with another 3rd place in the second final.

Mammoth Mountain is the third resort to host the U.S. Grand Prix this season. Facing an unseasonably warm winter in California, the Grand Prix was forced to move the Northstar stop back to Breckenridge, CO. However, the Grand Prix was faced with another challenge when a tough weather font hammered Breckenridge. Ultimately the decision was made to cancel the finals at Breckenridge and run three events during the Mammoth Grand Prix instead of the two that were originally planned.

Within four days the USSA will host six Olympic qualifying events across two disciplines, pushing many athletes to the edge of their snowboard competition careers. Today was possibly the most trying day of the year for many riders looking for spots on the first-ever U.S. Snowboard Slopestyle Team. Chas Guldemond has unofficially secured his spot on the Olympic team with this second podium finish after four events, and will look to be named to the team on Saturday following the last final of the U.S. Grand Prix. Today's podium marks Kyle Mack's first of the season.
