Dylan Kwasniewski No. 31 NNS Post-Race Report: Richm... / Apr.29.2014
Kwasniewski Suffers Damage, Comes Home 32nd
RICHMOND, Va. (April 26, 2014) - In his first-career NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start at Richmond International Raceway (RIR), Dylan Kwasniewski was on his way to a solid top-15 finish until contact from another competitor on lap 187 relegated Kwasniewski and the No. 31 SEM Products Chevrolet team to a 32nd-place finish. Kwasniewski and his Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM) team made strides during both practice sessions on Thursday afternoon, running the 19th and sixth-fastest lap times among the field. Kwasniewski carried that momentum into the NNS qualifying on Friday afternoon, earning the second starting position for Friday night's shootout. After rain and thunderstorms delayed the start of the 250-lap race for three hours, the field took the green flag and Kwasniewski settled into the fifth position until the NASCAR-mandated competition caution came out on lap 42. During the caution, crew chief Pat Tryson called Kwasniewski down pit road for four tires, fuel and an air-pressure adjustment. After the pit stop, Kwasniewski reported to his team that his SEM Products Chevy felt better, but was still tight on entry. The Las Vegas, Nev. native was scored in the 13th position when making a green-flag pit stop on lap 119, and Kwasniewski maintained his position until lap 187 when another competitor made contact with Kwasniewski, causing him to cut a tire and sending him into the wall in Turn 4. Kwasniewski suffered irreparable damage, bringing the SEM Products Chevy home in the 32nd position..

"I have to thank Turner Scott Motorsports and all of my guys that work on this SEM Products Chevrolet for building me such a fast racecar. The guys worked hard all week and we were rewarded with a front-row starting spot tonight. We battled a tight race car during the first part of the race, but we were making solid gains on it during our pit stops. We had a top-10 car all night and it's a shame we don't have the finish to back it up. My team and I will put this one behind us and move on to Talladega next weekend."
