Sipes Words: GNCC Round 5 - Dunlop Limestone 100

"Round 5 was a huge bummer for me. I'd been working on things before this race and I felt great coming in, ready to run at the front. For some reason, my bike decided not to start when the flag flew. I ended having to bump start it to get it going and by that time I was 20 seconds behind. Around mile two I was just catching up to the back of the pack and trying to make moves. I came up on a guy pretty fast and when he cut right to dodge a tree, I didn't have time to react. I clipped the tree with my left hand, sending me whiskey throttling to the right into a much larger tree. I thought it was bad at first, but after a minute, I decided I would try to finish. I gave it all I had, but it just kept hurting more and more. I sat down once and couldn't stand back up. At that point I had to pull it in. It's a bummer because I want to be out there no matter what. I want to race for podiums and wins. My knee is swollen now but I feel like it's getting better. Hopefully by the next round in two weeks I can be running strong again. I can't wait to get back out there and race at the front. I'm bound and determined to make it happen!
