Sipes Words: Steele Creek GNCC

I was really looking forward to a dry race finally, but round three was, once again, a mudder.  It wasn't as bad as the first two rounds but still tough.  I got a decent start, around 6th, but a bottleneck in the second corner sent me a back a few spots.  I made some passes in the first few miles and felt really good.  Around mile four we went into some trail that hadn't been ridden on, and it was super slick.  I wasn't ready for it!  I went down a few times and got shuffled back to around 16th.  The first few rounds I have been riding a little cautious, only because I want to learn and be solid, not the guy that wins or crashes like I've been known to be.  But after my crashes, I figured it was time to lay down some fast laps and catch up.  I worked my way back up to 7th at one point, until I got greedy trying to pass one more guy in a mud hole and got stuck.  It took three people to pull my bike out!  I lost a few minutes there and finished up 9th.  I'm still happy with the way I rode and how I felt.  My fitness is coming around and I'm learning a lot.  Good things are coming.
