Sipes Words: "The General" GNCC Round 2

"Round 2 at The General was a mess! It rained 2 inches the morning of the race and made the course pretty nasty. It was probably the worst mud I've ever ridden in. I got a decent start and worked my way up to 4th by mile 2 but had a goggle malfunction and had to pull in for a new pair, leaving me way behind the pack. I was playing catch up from then on, picking my way through guys and getting as high as 6th at one point. I was riding kind of cautious out there, there were mud holes that would swallow the bike if you weren't careful. I feel like I rode better at this race than round 1 though. My line choices and track vision are coming around. I lost all brakes with 2 laps to go, then got stuck in one of those seat deep ruts on the last lap and lost a few spots. I finished up 8th on the day. Not ideal, but with the problems I had, I was glad to finish in the top ten. I know I'm learning and getting better, and that makes me excited for the next race! I can't wait to see what's in store. A huge thanks goes out to all my sponsors for believing in me and sticking behind me as I learn the ropes of this crazy sport!"
